Upper estimate price exceeded by 43 %.
The work Dollar Sign by Andy Warhol was sold in the Contemporary Day Auction auction at Sothebys in New York in November 2021. The »bidding war« ended at USD 927,500.00 (€ 821,741.83), 43% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
