In June 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art, Day, which included the work Dollar Sign by Andy Warhol. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 192,000.00 (€ 284,918.34), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2007 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art, Day durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dollar Sign von Andy Warhol zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 192.000,00 (€ 284.918,34) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andy Warhol erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shot Sage Blue Marilyn im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 195.040.000,00 (€ 181.753.797,41).
