Auction result well in line with expectations

The work A double-sided miniature of two gentlemen, one, young, facing left in dark green velvet coat, yellow waistcoat, frilled cravat, blue stock; and another, old, facing right in black fur-bordered red-brown coat, yellow waistcoat and lace cravat by Andrew Robertson was sold in the IMPORTANT GOLD BOXES,OBJECTS OF VERTU & PORTRAIT MINIATURES auction at Christies in London in May 2004. The price achieved of GBP 956.00 (€ 1,434.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Andrew Robertson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As The Artist'S Wife in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,769.40).
