Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Coney Island Beach, July 4, 1949 by Andreas Feininger for USD 1,764.00 (€ 1,442.35). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs from the Ginny Williams Collection at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andreas Feininger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Photojournalist (Dennis Stock, Magnum Photographer) in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 41,125.00 (€ 46,343.25).
