Acquired in India circa 1960s by Prof. Derek Davenport | Purchased from the estate of the above in July 2017 | Derek A. Davenport was Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at Purdue University, West Lafayette in Indiana. A stalwart in the field of education, he traveled extensively throughout the world, including India where he spent two sabbaticals overseas helping to establish the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur in 1963.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Set Of Three) by Ambadas Khobragade was sold in the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Online auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2019. The price achieved of USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,521.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,400.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ambadas Khobragade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 36,500.00 (€ 46,429.60).

Die Arbeit Untitled (Set Of Three) von Ambadas Khobragade wurde im September 2019 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Online bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.750,00 (€ 2.521,78) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.400,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ambadas Khobragade erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 36.500,00 (€ 46.429,60).
