A top price for Althea Mary Proctor - as previously expected
In May 2001 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work The Garden Party by Althea Mary Proctor. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 7,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 7,637.50 (€ 4,577.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Garden Party is the most expensive artwork by Althea Mary Proctor that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Garden Party von Althea Mary Proctor zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 7.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 7.637,50 (€ 4.577,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist The Garden Party das teuerste Kunstwerk von Althea Mary Proctor, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
