Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Portrait of Valentine Morris (1727-1789), Governor of Saint Vincent, half-length by Allan Ramsay. The price achieved of USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,024.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Allan Ramsay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 421,250.00 (€ 535,202.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Valentine Morris (1727-1789), Governor of Saint Vincent, half-length von Allan Ramsay zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 17.500,00 (€ 15.024,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Allan Ramsay erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 421.250,00 (€ 535.202,87).
