Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Portrait Of Mrs. Barbara Young (D. 1798?), Half-Length, Wearing A Pink Dress With White Lace, And A Black Lace Shawl by Allan Ramsay. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,586.25) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Allan Ramsay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 421,250.00 (€ 535,202.87).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 20.586,25) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Allan Ramsay erzielen.
