Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter length, seated at a harpsichord, holding a sheet of music by Allan Ramsay was sold in the Master Paintings and Drawings Part II auction at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 9,393.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Allan Ramsay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 421,250.00 (€ 535,202.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, three-quarter length, seated at a harpsichord, holding a sheet of music von Allan Ramsay wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion Master Paintings and Drawings Part II bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 421.250,00 (€ 535.202,87).
