Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2008 Christies in London held the auction The Arthur Ackermann and Peter Johnson Collection: A Connoisseur's Choice, which included the work Off to the fishing grounds by Alfred Herbert. The price achieved of GBP 1,187.50 (€ 1,510.55) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Herbert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishing Vessels In A Squall Off Saint Malo, France, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,986.07).
