Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Fishermen landing the day's catch and sorting their nets on the pier at Yarmouth by Alfred Herbert. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,045.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Alfred Herbert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fishing Vessels In A Squall Off Saint Malo, France in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,986.07).
