This artwork by Alexis Smith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2005. In the first open Post-War and Contemporary Art auction, the work Taste Treat sold for USD 15,600.00 (€ 12,937.47) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alexis Smith; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Iron Sorrows sold at auction in November 2010 with the realized price of USD 27,500.00 (€ 21,095.43).
