ALEXIS SMITH (B. 1949) Montage of Disasters lithograph in colors with gold leaf and embossing, on Rives BFK paper, 1995, signed and dated '1996' in pencil, numbered 6/40 (there were also five artist's proofs), co-published by Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Snowmass Village and Landfall Press Inc., Colorado and Chicago, with the Landfall Press Inc. copyright ink stamp on the reverse, the full sheet, in very good condition, framed Sheet: 30 1 ⁄ 4 x 36 3 ⁄ 4 in. (768 x 933 mm.)

In July last year Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included the work Montage of Disasters by Alexis Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 378.00 (€ 370.52), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexis Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Iron Sorrows in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 27,500.00 (€ 21,095.43).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit Montage of Disasters von Alexis Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 378,00 (€ 370,52) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexis Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Iron Sorrows im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 21.095,43).
