In October 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work The Water Spaniel by Alexander Pope. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,528.17) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Pope achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trophies Of The Hunt in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 370,000.00 (€ 332,285.59).

Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.528,17) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexander Pope erzielen.
