In October 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Medicine Bull by Alexander Gardner. The »bidding war« ended at USD 37,500.00 (€ 29,569.47), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Gardner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Abraham Lincoln, which sold at auction in October 2011 for USD 98,500.00 (€ 70,624.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Medicine Bull von Alexander Gardner zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 29.569,47) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Alexander Gardner mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of Abraham Lincoln beobachtet, die im Oktober 2011 für USD 98.500,00 (€ 70.624,51) versteigert wurde.
