This artwork by Alexander Adriaenssen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2012. In the Old Master & British Paintings auction, the work A Still Life With Roses, A Jug, A Loaf Of Bread, A Filled Wine Glass, Two Plates With Prawns And Crabs, A Knife, A Partly-Peeled Lemon And Grapes Over A Prtly-Draped Table sold for GBP 23,750.00 (€ 29,591.46) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alexander Adriaenssen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Roses and an iris in a glass vase, crabs and prawns on a pewter platter, a Façon-de-Venise wineglass, a stoneware ewer, a bunch of grapes, a bread roll and a roemer on a partly-draped table sold at auction in December 2004 with the realized price of GBP 33,460.00 (€ 47,355.12).
