The work Village Scene by Alexander Vladimirovich Makovsky was worth GBP 71,700.00 (€ 102,926.41) to a buyer in November 2003. This price was achieved in the auction Important Silver, Russian Works of Art and Paintings at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 9,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Vladimirovich Makovsky - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Market Day In Plyos, which sold at auction in May 2012 for GBP 217,250.00 (€ 270,683.94).
