The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,880.00 (€ 2,442.75), 44% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Albertus Seba - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A group of five Studies of Reptiles and Botanicals, which sold at auction in February 2002 for USD 4,935.00 (€ 5,699.93).

Die Arbeit Locupletissimi rerum naturalium thesauri: Four Plates von Albertus Seba wurde im November 2005 in der Auktion THE HOUSE SALE bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.880,00 (€ 2.442,75) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Albertus Seba mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A group of five Studies of Reptiles and Botanicals beobachtet, die im Februar 2002 für USD 4.935,00 (€ 5.699,93) versteigert wurde.
