Smith & Janssonio Waesbergios, Amsterdam, all with margins, all with vertical and auxiliary folds where previosly bound (as issued), occasional pale staining and minor creasing on a few plates, otherwise all apparently in very good condition, in faux-bronzed frames and French mats with wash lines, not examined out of the frames

Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Albertus Seba could be acquired at Christies in New York in December 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the THE HOUSE SALE auction, the work Locupletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesauri: Five Plates changed hands for USD 1,195.00 (€ 1,139.72) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Albertus Seba have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A group of five Studies of Reptiles and Botanicals in February 2002 with an auction result of USD 4,935.00 (€ 5,699.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Albertus Seba konnte im Dezember 2002 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion THE HOUSE SALE wechselte die Arbeit Locupletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesauri: Five Plates für USD 1.195,00 (€ 1.139,72) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Albertus Seba auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A group of five Studies of Reptiles and Botanicals im Februar 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.935,00 (€ 5.699,93).
