four engravings with hand-coloring, 1734-65, on wove papers, published in Amsterdam, all with margins, minor surface staining, some with occasional stray areas of printer ink, a few with soft handling creases, TAB. LXI with a half inch vertical tear in the upper margin, otherwise all apparently in good condition, in faux gilt, red and green-stained frames with French mats and wash lines, not examined out of the frames

Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Albertus Seba could be acquired at Christies in New York in January 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The House Sale auction, the work Albertus Seba'S Cabinet Of Curiosities Or "Locupletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesauri Accurata Descriptio": Four Plates changed hands for USD 1,434.00 (€ 1,151.62) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Albertus Seba have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A group of five Studies of Reptiles and Botanicals in February 2002 with an auction result of USD 4,935.00 (€ 5,699.93).
