Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Painting In Eight Parts) by Alan Charlton was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in London in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,089.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alan Charlton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Channel Painting no.4, which sold at auction in February 2016 for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 56,060.22).
