In April 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Solent by Alan Charlton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 23,940.00 (€ 27,537.97), 60% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alan Charlton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Channel Painting no.4, which sold at auction in February 2016 for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 56,060.22).

Im April 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Solent von Alan Charlton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 23.940,00 (€ 27.537,97) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Alan Charlton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Channel Painting no.4 beobachtet, die im Februar 2016 für GBP 43.750,00 (€ 56.060,22) versteigert wurde.
