Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Wave Theory with Fish Floats) by Al Taylor was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,653.27). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Al Taylor achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Peabody Group, #9 - 1992 in October last year with an auction result of EUR 40,672.00.
