Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints including an Important Private Collection by Lill Tschudi, which included the work Avium Vivae Icones (Hollstein 1405-1420) by Adriaen Collaert. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,774.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adriaen Collaert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Piscium Vivae Icones – Eine Folge von Fischen und anderen Meerestieren (25 Bll. zuzügl. dem Titelblatt), which sold at auction in November last year for EUR 6,731.00.
