In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction Important Portrait Miniatures including works from the, which included the work Maria Carolina of Habsburg (1752-1814), Queen of Naples, facing left in lace-bordered white silk dress with fichu, white sash tied in bow at waist, lace cap with ribbons in her curling hair tied under her chin by Adalbert Suchy. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,365.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Maria Carolina of Habsburg (1752-1814), Queen of Naples, facing left in lace-bordered white silk dress with fichu, white sash tied in bow at waist, lace cap with ribbons in her curling hair tied under her chin is the most expensive artwork by Adalbert Suchy that we have observed at auctions so far.
