Sold at the upper estimate price
The work Unknown by Adalbert Suchy was sold in the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Glass, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in June 2011. The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,659.47), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adalbert Suchy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Maria Carolina of Habsburg (1752-1814), Queen of Naples, facing left in lace-bordered white silk dress with fichu, white sash tied in bow at waist, lace cap with ribbons in her curling hair tied under her chin, which sold at auction in November 2001 for GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,365.63).
