Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hidden Sight by Alwar Balasubramaniam was sold in the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in September 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,930.41) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alwar Balasubramaniam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gravity, which sold at auction in December 2014 for INR 11,025,000.00 (€ 143,950.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Hidden Sight von Alwar Balasubramaniam wurde im September 2016 in der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 38.930,41) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Alwar Balasubramaniam mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Gravity beobachtet, die im Dezember 2014 für INR 11.025.000,00 (€ 143.950,91) versteigert wurde.
