Conceptual art, Fluxus, music and turmoil
Throughout her life, she has had to fight myths and hostility. Bands, songs, bars and everything imaginable have been named after her: On the 90th birthday of the artist Yoko Ono, Art.Salon congratulates.
The artist Yoko Ono turns 90 years old. She had to put up with a lot as the partner of the murdered Beatles star John Lennon. Although the majority of people know her name, her artistic work remained hidden from many of them - yet she is considered a leading figure of conceptual art and the Fluxus movement.
With her instruction pieces, she stirred up the New York avant-garde of the 1960s. The Cut Piece, a performance during which the audience cut pieces from her clothing, met with incomprehension in conservative circles. Throughout her life, the artist stood for swimming against the tide with her inventiveness and polarizing style. In the 1970s, the daughter of a pianist and ex-music student published her first Lennon-independent studio album - with success. Two of her total of five albums reached the top 100 chart positions in the USA. In 1994, the musical New York Rock was created, in which you can hear singles by Ono.
Fortunately, the myth that Yoko Ono was to blame for the breakup of the Beatles has since been debunked, so that the successful Japanese-born artist can fascinate merely with her appearance. Art.Salon congratulates on her 90th birthday.

The lively, dynamic and concentrated formal language of sculptor Mathias Kadolph has so far manifested itself primarily through his material, wood. Now, for the first time, he has had miniatures cast in bronze in an edition of twelve sculptures each. These convey essential impressions of his formal ideas and open up to new impulses for our perception.
