The documenta is considered one of the most important exhibitions of contemporary art worldwide. Every five years, Kassel's "Museum of 100 Days", as the documenta in Kassel is also called, welcomes artists, cultural workers and visitors. As documenta 2022 is the 15th exhibition since 1955, it is officially called documenta fifteen.
100 days, 100 nights
Mixed feelings arise when thinking back on the last hundred days. The documenta attracted more criticism than probably ever before. Certainly, many artists made contributions to the »world art exhibition«. But the »spirals of escalation, « as Kulturzeit presenter Cécile Schortmann calls the incidents, cast a long shadow over documenta fifteen. The Hessenschau even asks, »Was it the last one? «
Ruangrupa to anti-Semitism
The world art exhibition is still running for 41 days. More than half is over. Is the atmosphere poisoned? The curatorial team ruangrupa thinks so. Two members of the collective, Farid Rakun and Reza Afisina, commented on the accusations of anti-Semitism in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
The quiet documenta
More participants, more community, more liveliness - less pomp, less aesthetics, less waste: Tomorrow marks the start of documenta 15, with a collective holding the reins for the first time - forgoing million-dollar art in favor of building an ecosystem.
Documenta fifteen: all about collectivity
With its five-year cycle, the world's most important contemporary art exhibition series narrowly missed the first two years of the Corona pandemic and is now entering its 15th round as planned in 2022: documenta fifteen will take place from June 18 to September 25, 2022, as always in Kassel.
