The work Bamboo, Rock and Sparrows by Zhu Sheng was worth HKD 500,000.00 (€ 53,832.58) to a buyer in November 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 70,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zhu Sheng; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Ink Bamboo sold at auction in May 2018 with the realized price of HKD 525,000.00 (€ 57,358.61).
