Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Zhou Chen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2012. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Fishing in a Quiet Lake sold for HKD 860,000.00 (€ 85,272.87) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 400,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhou Chen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work River Scenery in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 51,390,000.00 (€ 5,096,267.32).
