A top price for Zhou Chen
When the work River Scenery by Zhou Chen was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 10,000,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at HKD 51,390,000.00 (€ 5,096,267.32). This high result makes River Scenery the most expensive artwork by Zhou Chen that we have observed at auctions so far.
