Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Pavilions by the River by Zhou Chen was worth HKD 1,220,000.00 (€ 116,713.00) to a buyer in November 2011. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 300,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhou Chen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work River Scenery in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 51,390,000.00 (€ 5,096,267.32).
