Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Eight-Character Calligraphic Couplet in Oracle Bone Script by Zhang Shiyuan was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 7,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 21,250.00 (€ 2,287.88). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhang Shiyuan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mountain Stream In The Mist in April 2015 with an auction result of HKD 300,000.00 (€ 34,671.21).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Eight-Character Calligraphic Couplet in Oracle Bone Script von Zhang Shiyuan im November 2017 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 7.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 21.250,00 (€ 2.287,88) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Zhang Shiyuan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mountain Stream In The Mist im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 300.000,00 (€ 34.671,21).
