Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Girl on Globe 3 by Yinka Shonibare was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Phillips in London in October 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 107,100.00 (€ 126,884.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Yinka Shonibare - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Lantern Kid, which sold at auction in December 2018 for USD 325,000.00 (€ 283,694.13).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Girl on Globe 3 von Yinka Shonibare wurde im Oktober 2021 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 107.100,00 (€ 126.884,57) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Yinka Shonibare mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Red Lantern Kid beobachtet, die im Dezember 2018 für USD 325.000,00 (€ 283.694,13) versteigert wurde.
