This artwork by Yao Nai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2015. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work Letters sold for USD 47,500.00 (€ 42,555.10) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. This high result makes Letters the most expensive artwork by Yao Nai that we have observed at auctions so far.
