Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Nightman Cometh by Yang Fudong was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 22,500.00 (€ 2,647.78). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yang Fudong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The First Intellectual in April 2014 with an auction result of HKD 1,480,000.00 (€ 137,649.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Nightman Cometh von Yang Fudong im Oktober 2016 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 22.500,00 (€ 2.647,78) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yang Fudong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The First Intellectual im April 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.480.000,00 (€ 137.649,60).
