This artwork by Yang Fudong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2016. In the Modern and Contemporary Asian Art Evening Sale auction, the work The First Intellectual sold for HKD 1,062,500.00 (€ 125,034.21) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 600,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Yang Fudong; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The First Intellectual sold at auction in April 2014 with the realized price of HKD 1,480,000.00 (€ 137,649.60).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Yang Fudong erzielte im Oktober 2016 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Asian Art Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit The First Intellectual für HKD 1.062.500,00 (€ 125.034,21) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 600.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Yang Fudong; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The First Intellectual im April 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 1.480.000,00 (€ 137.649,60).
