This artwork by Xu Sangeng achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in December 2020. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Standard Script Calligraphy sold for HKD 1,025,000.00 (€ 108,115.29) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 360,000.00. This high result makes Standard Script Calligraphy the most expensive artwork by Xu Sangeng that we have observed at auctions so far.
