Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Calligraphy Couplet In Zhuanshu by Xu Sangeng was worth HKD 325,000.00 (€ 31,667.17) to a buyer in April 2012. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 95,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xu Sangeng - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Standard Script Calligraphy, which sold at auction in December 2020 for HKD 1,025,000.00 (€ 108,115.29).

Die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Zhuanshu von Xu Sangeng war einem Käufer im April 2012 HKD 325.000,00 (€ 31.667,17) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings bei Sothebys in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 95.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Xu Sangeng mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Standard Script Calligraphy beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für HKD 1.025.000,00 (€ 108.115,29) versteigert wurde.
