Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for A Book from the Sky by Xu Bing was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in May this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 100,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 140,800.00 (€ 16,876.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xu Bing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Living Word in April 2008 with an auction result of HKD 7,607,500.00 (€ 626,954.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Study for A Book from the Sky von Xu Bing kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 100.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 140.800,00 (€ 16.876,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Xu Bing erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Living Word im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 7.607.500,00 (€ 626.954,17).
