It achieved a price of GBP 63,300.00 (€ 73,649.97), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 27%. Admittedly, works by Xu Bing have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Living Word in April 2008 with an auction result of HKD 7,607,500.00 (€ 626,954.17).

Die Arbeit Happy the Man, 2019 von Xu Bing wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion Michael Goedhuis | Brush and Bronze bei Bonhams versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 63.300,00 (€ 73.649,97) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 27%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Xu Bing auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Living Word im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 7.607.500,00 (€ 626.954,17).
