Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2019 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Chinese Contemporary Ink, which included the work Landscript by Xu Bing. The price achieved of HKD 2,125,000.00 (€ 243,205.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 1,600,000.00 – 2,600,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xu Bing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Living Word, which sold at auction in April 2008 for HKD 7,607,500.00 (€ 626,954.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2019 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Chinese Contemporary Ink durch, in der auch die Arbeit Landscript von Xu Bing zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 2.125.000,00 (€ 243.205,67) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 1.600.000,00 – 2.600.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Xu Bing mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Living Word beobachtet, die im April 2008 für HKD 7.607.500,00 (€ 626.954,17) versteigert wurde.
