Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Xavier Martinez achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in April this year. In the California Art auction, the work Monterey Bay at Dusk sold for USD 14,025.00 (€ 12,703.80) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xavier Martinez - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Old Alcaiseria, Guadalajara, Mexico, which sold at auction in June 2002 for USD 45,410.00 (€ 46,073.46).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Xavier Martinez erzielte im April diesen Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion California Art wurde die Arbeit Monterey Bay at Dusk für USD 14.025,00 (€ 12.703,80) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Xavier Martinez mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Old Alcaiseria, Guadalajara, Mexico beobachtet, die im Juni 2002 für USD 45.410,00 (€ 46.073,46) versteigert wurde.
