Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction California and Western Art Online, which included the work Chambre de Mon Atelier 10 x 8 in. framed 13 1/4 x 11 1/2 in. by Xavier Martinez. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,792.00 (€ 1,642.83), 19% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xavier Martinez achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Old Alcaiseria, Guadalajara, Mexico in June 2002 with an auction result of USD 45,410.00 (€ 46,073.46).
