Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Wu Wei could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings and Cal auction, the work Fishermen changed hands for USD 56,250.00 (€ 41,558.92) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wu Wei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two Sceneries by a Lake in May 2008 with an auction result of HKD 7,607,500.00 (€ 626,298.68).
