In April 2002 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction The Imperial Sale, Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, which included the work Fisherman by Wu Wei. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 119,500.00 (€ 17,018.33), 49% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wu Wei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two Sceneries by a Lake in May 2008 with an auction result of HKD 7,607,500.00 (€ 626,298.68).
