Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Couplet In Running-Script Calligraphy by Wu Rongguang was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 97,500.00 (€ 9,244.08). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wu Rongguang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphy In Xingshu, which sold at auction in October 2013 for HKD 275,000.00 (€ 26,096.07).
