Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2020 Bonhams in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Bakuba Dance by Wosene Worke Kosrof. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,700.00 (€ 4,864.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Wosene Worke Kosrof have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Roots Of Words Iii in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 46,397.13).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2020 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bakuba Dance von Wosene Worke Kosrof zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.700,00 (€ 4.864,31) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wosene Worke Kosrof auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Roots Of Words Iii im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 46.397,13).
