Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Eerie Grotto? Okini by William T. Wiley was auctioned at Phillips in London in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 953.00 (€ 1,595.00). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William T. Wiley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ediface Complex, 1981 in June 2020 with an auction result of USD 25,075.00 (€ 22,326.60).
